What are the best ski resorts for groups?
First, find out from your group what is really important to your group - dates, skiing abilities, and whether things like après-ski are vital. How to plan a group ski trip?
- Nominate a group leader: Once you've decided on your resort, accommodation, and travel dates, let one person take care of the significant decisions and payment schedule to ensure deadlines are met.
- Agree on a budget: Agree on how much you want to spend and stick to it. Your budget should include flights, accommodation, transfers, lift passes, lessons, ski hire, as well as food and drink while you're there.
- Choose a resort to suit all abilities: Choose somewhere that everyone can have a great time at, whether a beginner, an advanced snowboarder, or a non-skier.
If some of the group are happy to pay more for a ski holiday - how do we settle on a budget?
Agreeing on a budget beforehand (and what that must include) reduces the back and forth and the risk of holidays selling out! We offer plenty of budget-friendly options for those trying not to break the bank, including some lesser-known resorts that are fantastic value for money, meaning the other members of the group haven't had to compromise on quality. Win, win!
Is it cheaper to book a ski holiday a group?
Things like the transfers and accommodation will be split between more people, which will give you better value for money! Often, a private transfer can even work out as the best value with a group booking, meaning you get door-to-door service with just your group in the vehicle, without having to wait for anyone else. Win-win!
How many nights is right for a group ski holiday?
Most groups book 7 nights, but we also see a large number booking for slightly less when they are constrained by budgets or time. A week, a long weekend, or a weekend ski trip are all excellent options for groups, allowing you to still enjoy their mountain meet-up time around busy schedules, kids, and differing budgets.
With a huge range of flight times available, at Heidi, you can depart on any date and stay any length of time you’d like. It also gives you the flexibility to depart early in the morning and come back late at night to optimise your time on the slopes for a shorter night stay or select the most sociable flight times to ensure a leisurely travel day experience.
What if some people in the group are unable to commit to buying the ski holiday right now? Can I add them on after?
Yes. We can add them to the booking provided there's still flight and accommodation availability. The add-on will need to be confirmed (not requested) 7-days pre-departure. Generally, as prices go up the nearer you get to a holiday, and availability goes down, it's best to try and add people as soon as you know.
On group ski holidays, can you fly from different airports?
Yes. With Heidi, that’s not a problem. Your group can fly from multiple airports on one booking. To book, get in touch with us directly via phone, email or web chat, and we'll take care of the rest.
Some people in our group ski trip are unsure what extras they'd like, can these be added later?
Yes. Extras, such as ski passes and rentals, can be added at any time up until a few days before departure by any individual in the group, which means the lead passenger doesn't have to worry about adding everything at the point of booking. Simply pass on the booking reference and email address that made the booking to the group so that anyone can log into “Manage My Booking” and add and pay for the extras they need.
We also offer ski lessons, so give us a ring to let us know what you’d like, and we’ll find the best lessons for you.
Are group ski lessons worth it?
Yes. Group ski lessons are a great way to learn the basics surrounded by fellow beginners for a fraction of the price of private lessons. To book your ski lessons in advance, select your resort and flights, then add your ski lessons and ski hire at checkout.
How do I ensure I don’t have to share a bed with anyone on a group ski trip?
Filling a self-catering apartment to its maximum capacity will likely mean people sharing beds, so we recommend spreading the group across a larger apartment, several apartments, or hotel rooms.
It's worth noting that Austria also has limited twin beds, often called 'Austrian twins', which are 2 x mattresses and duvets in one bed frame (a little cosier than a separate bed - but not as cosy as a double!), so if this is a little too cosy for your group we would recommend avoiding!
